The 4th Wharepuke International Open Printmaking show features 25 artists from 12 different countries selected from open submission.
4th Wharepuke International Open Print Show 2016
The 4th Wharepuke International Open printmaking show took on a slightly different form from previous shows. The first three open submission shows limited the paper size to A4 and the gallery exhibited the selected the works in stock frames.
For this exhibition we decided to lift the restrictions on paper size and hang the works unframed. Because of the size of the gallery space and curatorial decisions about which works were suited to others the exhibition is divided into two parts.
Roughly speaking we see the first half as more abstract and colourful and the second more conceptually focused.
There was a tie for the overall winner and solo shows were awarded to Carolyn McKenzie Craig and Richard Hricko.
The other selected finalists were Ximena Borquez and Judy Major – Girardin.
